Taking inspiration from the "Year of the Rat" cigar launched in November 2019 worldwide, the lid of the majestic Masterpiece in red lacquer comes with a round gold-plated plaque representing the symbol of the Rat. Striking and elegant, the humidor is adorned with a subtle varnishing treatment and features two golden nobs, which allow opening and closing of the humidor comfortably.
Once the humidor is opened, a beautiful and colorful emblem crafted with gemstones is unveiled. Each layer of the illustration is associated with a color and symbolizes the qualities of the Rat: bright, optimistic and energetic. The green and the blue represent the lucky colours of the rat. The blue part is crafted from remarkable and unique Larimar stones, which is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic. Its coloration varies from white, light-blue, green-blue to deep blue.
To further highlight the collectability of this masterpiece, the humidor contains a drawer lined with light brown leather to accommodate a Davidoff Jetflame lighter and a Davidoff double blade cutter engraved with the "Year of the rat" pattern. All the gold parts of the humidor are plated with gold 5 micro.
The Masterpiece comes with 88 cigars arranged on a tray engraved with the rat symbol. The number 88 symbolizes fortune and good luck in Chinese culture, since the number 8 sounds similar to the word wealth, in Mandarin or Cantonese and is considered the luckiest number in the Chinese culture. The shape of the Chinese character for 8 implies that a person will have a great, wide future as the character starts narrow and gets wider toward the bottom.
The unique Masterpiece humidor "Year of the Rat" has been created for Davidoff by the luxury craft company Moevus. Moevus is manufacturing all of its products since 30 years in Virieu le Grand in Ain (France). The company possesses rare and unique know-how in the mastery of woodworking, marquetry and varnishes. The development of its activities would not have been possible without the hand of man and his irreplaceable talent. The company is one of the prestigious labels of "Entreprises du patrimoine vivant" as well as "Atelier d'art de France".
The Procigar charity auction
The charity auction benefits two different organizations helping children and the elderly: the Voluntariado de Jesús con los Niños and the Hospicio San Vicente de Paul. Also, this year, Procigar has a new initiative for our tobacco community in the Dominican Republic: "A home for my family" the idea is based on restructuring the property of those employees of our member companies that have very low housing resources. This initiative will validate our gratitude and return of efforts to those who do the same for our industry.
